This Orange Crush Pound Cake Is So Very Delicious

What Temperature Is Your Home Oven Cooking At?

Quite often your home oven will not be cooking at the temperature that the dial says it is. I suggest if your going to be doing much home baking that you purchase a heavy duty oven thermometer for your home oven and install it in the middle of the oven. I hang mine from the middle rack so it is in the middle of the oven and able to be seen easily.

You should also use a small level and check to see that your home oven is level. Most home stoves have small legs on the bottom that can be screwed in and out to make your oven level. If you don't understand exactly how to use a level look it up online.

Garnish Your Orange Pound Cake With Oranges Or Wedges Of Cut Up Oranges

I like to garnish this cake with oranges and cut up orange wedges because it smells so wonderful and it is really pretty in the presentation as you can see in the photos. I suggest you buy the best orange flavoring possible to make this cake with as you get what you pay for. When you open your orange flavoring you should smell the wonderful smell of oranges. The best orange flavoring is a little more expensive but it is well worth the cost of the bottle of orange flavoring.

Electric Hand Mixer

Using an electric hand mixer will make making this cake so much easier. I usually go through a couple of hand mixers a year but I do a lot of baking. I try to buy a better brand hand mixer and it seems to last a lot longer than a dollar store brand hand mixer.

Old Hand Cranked Flour Sifter

I have one of the old time hand cranked sifters that I use for my baking. In fact mine used to belong to my Grandmother and she told me years ago that she was given the old hand cranked sifter by a friend back in the late 1920s. I still use it today and it works just perfect. When a recipe like the one here tells you to sift the flour five times do it. The results will be really rewarding.

A Secret About How To Measure Your Ingredients

It's so easy to lose track of what and how much you've measured. The best remedy for this is to measure all your ingredients before you begin a recipe. Place unmeasured ingredients to the left of your workspace and move them to the right as they are measured. Some people find it helpful to measure out loud, and set aside measured ingredients on paper plates or paper towels.

What's The Best Way To Measure Sticky Solid Ingredients Such As Peanut Butter Or Vegetable Shortening?

These ingredients can be easily measured by first spraying the inside of dry measuring cups with vegetable cooking spray.

Never Measure Over The Mixing Bowl.

I've learned to never measure over a mixing bowl. It's best to do all measuring over a paper towel or a piece of wax paper as any spills can be recovered and poured back into their containers.

Quick Disposable Piping Bag

We often make a quick, disposable piping bag from a heavy-duty zip-top plastic bag. Just snip a small hole in a corner of the bag, and place the tip in the bag so it sticks out the hole. Add your frosting, seal the bag, and decorate. Even faster, if you simply want a plain drizzle, skip the metal tip, snip a tiny hole in a corner of the bag, and drizzle directly from the bag.

Use Your Hands To Grease Your Cake Pans

The quickest and easiest way to grease cake pans is to slip your hand into a sandwich bag and then into the shortening can. Smear away and come out with a clean hand. When your finished, turn the bag inside out, and discard.

A Quick Rescue For Sticky Cake Pans

If company is coming and your cake layers come out of the pan in pieces, don't panic. Pull out your parfait glasses, cut cake into cubes, and layer it with whipped cream, sliced fruit, and sprinkles of liqueur if desired. The orange pound cake on this page would be wonderful with peeled and ( seeds removed ) orange sections, cool whip topping and orange liqueur. Oh man that would be so delicious. I will have to make parfaits out of it real soon and give it a try. How about you?

More Cake Making Tips

Use the freshest ingredients you can find, and let butter, milk, and eggs sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before using. There's no substitute for real eggs, butter, or stick margarine when making a cake. An accurate oven is a must. Always preheat your oven for 10 minutes.

Always use the correct pan size, measuring it across the top. An incorrect pan size can cause a cake to be flat and shrunken or rise to a peak and fall.

Use only shortening to grease cake pans. Oil, butter, or margarine may cause cakes to stick or burn. Dust greased cake pans with flour, tilting the pans to coat bottoms and sides. If baking a chocolate cake, dust greased baking pans with cocoa instead of flour.

Orange Crush Pound Cake Recipe

Orange Crush Pound Cake is one of the most delicious things you will ever eat. I first had this cake in Miami and then over the years I have worked at refining my recipe for Orange Crush Pound Cake and I think I have come up with the perfect recipe for Orange Crush Pound Cake.

My friend just made this cake again the other night and it was the most amazing pound cake I have ever tasted. Even a few days later it was just simply wonderful. I heated a piece of the cake and had it with some coffee and it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. When my friend made the Orange Crush Pound Cake the crust on the cake made me think of drinking orange crush drinks out of the old brown bottles on the porch of my Grandfathers store all those years ago. If you love pound cake like I do you just have to make this cake. Its oh so wonderful.

The best Orange Crush Pound Cake has to have the wonderful taste of a orange crush and the cake has to be moist. If your Orange Crush Pound Cake is dry then you will never get the flavor you need to have the perfect Orange Crush Pound Cake,

I suggest you use all purpose plain flour to make your cake with but you will need to sift your all purpose plain flour at least five times for your cake to turn out right. You need a sifter that you can put your flour in to sift it and the best way to do this is to sift the flour into one bowl and then sift it from that bowl back and forth until your flour has been sifted at least five times. You have to sift the flour if you want to get the right consistency in your finished cooked cake.

The other thing is that you must have real orange crush soda to make your Orange Crush Pound Cake with. Other orange sodas will work but you will never have a true Orange Crush Pound Cake with out Orange Crush Soda.

You also need to check your ovens temperature by hanging a heavy duty oven thermometer in the center of the oven. If your going to be doing a lot of baking you must have a thermometer in your oven to see if when you turn the dial to 350 degrees that it really is producing a temperature of 350 degrees in the oven. You also need to use a level and make sure that your stove is truly level. Most stoves have screw in and out legs that you can adjust if you need to.

If you will check in your supermarkets baking section you will see all kinds of spices and flavorings for sale there. You will want a bottle of the best orange flavoring they have for sale. Don't scrimp on price here. Sure they have a bottle of orange flavoring for $3. But I will bet you that the $7 bottle will produce a better flavor. And the better orange flavoring will give your Orange Crush Pound Cake a taste you won't soon forget.

When it comes to baking I stay away from store brands or no name brand products and go with name brand products only for my baking. By doing this I find that I am always rewarded with the best flavors possible. You get what you pay for is really true when you work with name brand versus store brand products when baking. I think if you try using only named brand ingredients that you will see a big difference in how your baked goods turn out.

For Your Orange Crush Pound Cake You Will Need

1. Two And Three Fourths Cup Of Sugar.

2. One Cup Vegetable Shortening.

3. One Stick Butter.

4. Five Large Eggs.

5. Three Cups All Purpose Flour Sifted Five Times.

6. One Level Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.

7. One Cup Orange Crush Soda.

8. One Teaspoon Orange Flavoring.

9. One Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.

The Secret Ingredient In This Cake

The secret ingredient in this cake is the Orange Flavoring. And you get what you pay for. You want to go to the section in your supermarket where the spices and flavorings are sold and you want to buy the best orange flavoring they have for sale there. If you have trouble finding it you will usually find it right there near the vanilla extract and yes you want the best

You will want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then with your electric hand mixer you will want to beat your sugar and shortening together until fluffy. Now you will want to add your eggs one at a time beating them in after you add each egg.

Add the rest of your ingredients and use your electric hand mixer to make sure everything is very well mixed together. Once you have all your ingredients very well mixed together you'll want to grease a loaf or pound cake pan very well and then put a tablespoon of all purpose flour in it and shake it around to coat your pan.

You will want to bake your cake for one hour and ten minutes in the center of a preheated 350 degree oven. Let your cake cool for about ten minutes and then turn your cake out onto a cake plate and spread the frosting below on your Orange Pound Cake while it is still warm.

Orange Crush Pound Cake Frosting

1. Eight Ounces Cream Cheese

2. One Cup Powdered Sugar.

3. One Teaspoon Vanilla Flavoring.

4. One Teaspoon Orange Flavoring.

Mix all your frosting ingredients together in a mixing bowl and spread the frosting on your Orange Crush Pound Cake

And guess what. You have just made the most delicious Orange Crush Pound Cake that you will ever get to eat. it is just simply wonderful. I think it is the best cake I have ever tasted.
