The Best Oreo Cake Recipe

Updated on August 7, 2011

This is a very quick easy dessert to make.  This Oreo cake recipe is part of a series of hubs on Oreo cookie recipes.  The recipe calls for frozen Oreo cookies and frozen chocolate chips.  It is important to freeze the cookies and chocolate chips so they do not melt when the cake is cooking.  If you prefer less chocolate flavor you can eliminate the chocolate chips from this recipe.

One Devil's Food cake mix or chocolate cake mix

1/2 cup dark cocoa powder

1-1/2 cups sour cream

1/2 cup vegetable oil

Two eggs, lightly beaten

1/2 cup water

12 Oreo cookies chopped into 1/2-inch pieces, frozen

One cup dark chocolate chips, frozen

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl whisk together the cake mix and cocoa powder.  Then add the sour cream, eggs, vegetable oil and water together.  Continue mixing until well blended.  Gently fold in the frozen chocolate chips.  Pour mixture into cake pan.  Sprinkle frozen Oreo cookie pieces over the batter.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.  Let the cake completely cool before cutting and serving.  Do not overcook the cake or it will become dry.  Cover any leftovers and store at room temperature.

This looks yummy! I love Oreos and love desserts made with them, such as cookies and cream ice cream. I'm adding this one to my list of recipes.
