Psghetti's Restaurant Review

Updated on July 25, 2012

I enjoy good food at a good price. Today I visited Psghetti's at 5540 S. Lindbergh in St. Louis, Missouri and found just that. The restaurant is quick service Italian. You can dine in but they specialize in carry out. The restaurant is open daily from 11am - 9pm and Sundays from 11am - 5pm. The restaurant is super casual with older décor.

The menu features basic cold sandwiches like the turkey club. An 8 inch turkey club is $6.75 and a 16 inch turkey club is $12.65. This could easily feed two or more people. Hot subs are also a feature on the menu. The chicken parmesan sandwich is a grilled chicken breast topped with meat sauce, provel, and parmesan cheese for $6.95. All the hot sandwiches come with ½ a loaf of Psghetti's delicious fresh baked bread. And what would an Italian restaurant be without pasta? Psghetti's features spaghetti, mostacciolli, ravioli, and chicken parmesan. If you are not from St. Louis and have never had it, try the mostacciolli. This is a St. Louis staple. It even makes its way to a lot of wedding buffets.

I choose the Family Special. I had a group of five to feed so this was a deal at $24.75. The Family Special included a ½ gallon of spaghetti or mostaccioli, a 16" loaf of garlic bread, a 16" sub sandwich, and a ½ gallon of tossed salad with house dressing.
We choose the spaghetti. The sauce is sweeter than the spaghetti sauce I am use to. In fact, everything in the meal from the spaghetti sauce to the garlic bread has a sweetness to it. This seems to be Psghetti's signature. The noodles were slightly over cooked. The salad seemed like a generic bag salad but the light Italian dressing improved it. The sub sandwich is served without dressing but with enough of its own flavor that it is not really needed. And, the garlic bread... Oh, the garlic bread. This was my favorite part of the meal. I am a carb addict at heart and the garlic bread hit the spot. With the mix of the sweet bread, butter and garlic it was an excellent addition to the meal. In fact, it was the first item that was completely gone. The meal is said to serve 4-6. We served five people with leftovers for tomorrow.

The service was great. The server was friendly and had our meal ready to go in less than five minutes. I would definitely consider that quick service for the type of meal it was.

Overall, I would give this restaurant 2 ½ stars out of 5. I would like to see improvement in the quality of the salad and noodles but that had very little effect on the overall meal. My family will definitely be back.
