Recipe: QeenWow Quinoa (KeenWow KeenWaah)!

Updated on June 27, 2013

What the Hulk is Quinoa?!

Quinoa (pronounced Keen-waah) is a highly nutritious gluten-free seed originating from the Andean region of South America. It has a mild, nutty flavor, and is a subsitute for rice, couscous, or other carbohydrate or pasta. But, it is also a good source of protein, as it contains all eight amino-acids, which makes it a suitable vegan replacement for meat. It also contains dietary fiber, B vitamins, and iron.

From Quinoa to Quinwow!

Regularly cooked Quinoa in water is nutty and rich in texture, but can be a little bland. The next time you make it, try to mix in a few extra ingredients, and then watch as children of all ages devour it!

The basis of the recipe starts with subtituting the plain, bland, and tasteless water with some nice chicken stock. From there, add in some Tomatoes to not only add great flavor, but give a pop to the visual presentation. Finally Garlic... who doesn't love Garlic?!

Other things can be added to increase the flavor rating like chopped peppers (Red, Green, or Yellow), mushrooms, black pepper, and/or sun-dried tomatoes. Creativity is always rewarded.
