Rainbow Dreams and Colorful Cake Schemes

I am not a baker or even a mildly good cook, however, I am the mother of a toddler who LOVES making creative concoctions - and messes - in the kitchen. So, I took the tips from www.tablespoon.com and used food coloring, cream cheese and graham cracker crust to make a visually interesting and delectable desert with my 2 year old. Not only is it easy but it's fun and educational. We discuss ingredients, color selections, counting the number of colors and items used and then work on her responsibility chart by rewarding her with a sticker for cleaning up after the project. For fellow non-bakers and cooks out there, try these at home with your kids. They might look a bit weird but they taste great with rainbow deliciousness!

My toddler chose the colors and food coloring and box cake mix did the rest. :)

As a relatively untalented cook, I always have my tot help with the baking. It's a great bonding experience and I have an excuse if things don't come out Martha Stewart perfect. Our trick: cover it with frosting or gummi critters!
