Takkali Milagu Rasam (Fusion style)

Rasam from my grandma's kitchen was always tempted me after she passed away i Met Mr. A.S.Chandramouli my Husband's uncle who was staying with us and when first i took aroma of his rasam reminded me of my grandma and i was flatter it was simply awesome. I've learnt some great tips of Rasam, sambhar, vathal kozhambu from him. Sure certain hands cannot get that dish taste but still i've tried something interesting Rasam of his n my taste n so given the name of fusion .Serve this protein- and vitamin-packed rasam as an accompaniment to plain steamed rice or slurp it as soup. Tomatoes are bountiful of vitamin a, folic acid that helps boost immunity. This recipe is low in calories, Try it you'll love it.:)

Yields: serves four peson

Ingredients

  • 1cup Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1tbsp tamarind pulp, soaked in hot water
  • 2nos Green chillies, with a slit
  • 1/2tsp turmeric powder
  • few curry leaves, for tempering
  • 1tsp mustard seeds, for tempering
  • 1tsp cumin seeds, for tempering
  • 1tsp ghee
  • pinch asofoetida(hing)
  • to taste salt
  • 1/2cup corriander, chopped for garnish
  • 1tsp peppercorns, crushed
  • 1tbsp Homemade Rasam Powder
  • 1tsp Ginger Juice, crushed

Tangy,Smoky Hot Rasam.

  1. In a vessel add 2cups soaked tamarind water, pinch of turmeric, long slits chillies and bringit to boil add chopped tomatoes after 2mins boil of tamarind water, when the tomatoes turns mushy add crushed peppercorns, salt to taste and Homemade Rasam Powder boil max for 5 mins and turn off the flame. Take a tempering vessel put ghee, once the ghee is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds , hing, curry leaves and add crackled, smoky tempering into rasam. Garnish it with chopped corrieander leaves. Ready to Slurp:)
