Recipe, Apple Pie Baked Beans

Updated on July 3, 2013
Source

The Recipe

1 pound of breakfast sausage, browned and drained

2 large cans of pork and beans (any variety)

1 can apple pie filling

1/2 cup ketchup

2 Tbls prepared mustard

2 Tbls brown sugar

Mix all ingredients in a large casserole dish and bake for 60 to 90 minutes at 350 degrees.

This dish can be altered for vegetarians by omitting the sausage or using meatless sausage and using vegetarian canned beans.

This is a great recipe for bringing to potlucks, sharing with others and including in your meal plan. With the sausage it works well as a main dish as well as a side dish. It is just as good the next day reheated.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family and I want to thank my Grandma Leonard for giving it to me.

Although I don't particularly like canned pork and beans, this recipe sound delicious. I will try it with dried beans and see what happens...will try to let you know. Thanks! :)
