Restaurant Review of Taste of Thai Restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina

TASTE OF THAI : Restaurant Review of Taste of Thai Restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina

Here is a restaurant review for Taste of Thai Restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina that offers authentic cuisine native of Thailand. Taste of Thai restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina is a very nice and popular restaurant that can potentially be quite crowded on a Friday evening or Saturday evening but you should be typically be okay with visiting Taste of Thai restaurant without a reservation. Taste of Thai restaurant is located at the Westover Gallery of shops on Mill Road.

As you walk into Taste of Thai restaurant, you will be greeted by framed newspaper clippings that feature Taste of Thai restaurant as well as statues and a wish fountain. One of my sons asked for a quarter to put in the fountain. I told him that he can have a penny to put in the fountain instead and smiled widely at him. We did not have to wait long for available dinner seating at Taste of Thai restaurant and we were led to our table by one of the servers. There were nice hunter green colored table cloths and burgundy cloth napkins. My little boys were kind of pushing the table cloth all over the table. At home, our table cloth has trouble staying put as well unfortunately. I like to use little things to anchor the table cloth strategically.

  • The wait staff at Taste of Thai restaurant were very polite and accommodating as well as patient which is something that I always appreciate sincerely when taking the kids out to eat.
  • Beverages included lemonade and Thai iced tea. The kids loves the lemonade that was very sweet and fresh tasting. It was very pale in color and did not have that intense bright yellow lemonade color that might occur especially when artificial colors are used.
  • My personal favorite drink to get at Thai restaurants is the Thai Iced Tea that is rich, creamy and flavorful. Thai iced tea is typically made with red Thai tea and sweet condensed milk as key ingredients. You can have this drink alone served on ice while waiting for your meal to arrive at the table but it also pairs well with the flavors of the food if you would like to sip on it during your meal. In addition to the Thai iced tea and lemonade, we also asked for drinking water and it was generously served in large glass goblets with ice and drinking straws.

Taste of Thai Restaurant

While this Taste of Thai restaurant review comes on the tails of having visited the restaurant on a Friday evening, from where we were sitting at our dinner table, we could see across a partition the shiny metal buffet servers that are used during the week day lunch buffet. Restaurant that offer lunch buffets usually offer the buffet at a very good deal but we were getting a good deal as well even with evening dining.

In our area, Daily Deal promotions are often offered in the newspaper. You can purchase gift certificates for restaurants at a lower price than the value of each gift certificate. It is a good deal indeed. While relishing our beverages, we did not have a long wait for the food to arrive piping hot and delicious.

We decided upon a $14.95 dinner special as well as the beef fried rice. The dinner special offered quite a variety of items to try in dinner courses including

  • Salad
  • An appetizer (pictured in this hub)
  • Medium well done steak with white rice
  • Dessert – bananas in coconut milk

Having read the menu, I had no idea what the offered dessert would be with the dinner special, I only knew that dessert was included. So, here was a question that I asked the server before ordering and he was immediately forthcoming with a description of what the dessert would be.

We shared all the food up together. The beef fried rice at Taste of Thai restaurant was also very fresh and tasty and it was presented nicely with a garnish of cashews, cucumber slices and sprigs of parsley.

Dining at Taste of Thai restaurant was a wonderful dining experience.

  • The food was exquisitely fresh and delightful.
  • The ambiance and décor was nice.
  • The staff was friendly.

There were nice added touches like really nice smelling hand soaps in the rest room and the rest room was sanitary. As much as we try to avoid public restrooms, yes, after the large beverages, the kids had to go to the rest room before we could leave the restaurant. My little son really loved the smell of the soap and so did I. The proprietors at Taste of Thai restaurant really seem to know the nice added little touches that the restaurant patrons would like.

Dining at Taste of Thai restaurant was a wonderful dining experience.

UPDATE : Taste of Thai Restaurant closes

I read a recent Greensboro local news article that informed me that unfortunately, Taste of Thai restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina has recently closed down. The owner of Taste of Thai restaurant decided to not renew his lease and retire and spend time with family instead. This was considered newsworthy locally because the restaurant had been in business for over twenty years and the food was really of great quality. I will miss this restaurant!
