Sandwich Recipes - Sweet Sandwich Fillings

What would life be without sandwiches? There is no real substitute for a really tasty one as a lunch to take to work or school or even for a quick and tasty bite at home. Most of the time when we are thinking about possible sandwich filling we think about savoury fillings or your standard peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

In this Hub I want to give you a few tips for tasty sweet fillings with a difference and still keeping it healthy. Send the kids to school with one of these and pack some to take to work as well.

The basis of a good sandwich is always freshly baked bread, spread with butter (not margarine that is bad for you) and a tasty filling. So, this is a good reason to get a Bread Maker and have fresh bread on hand for these tasty fillings.

Of course, most of these recipes can also be used for grilled sandwiches if you prefer.

Have a look at these fillings and you will really be surprised at some of the combination and of the sheer tenacity of them. I hope you enjoy them.

Peanut Butter And Strawberry jam

I do not think I have to say anything about this filling. The jam tastes better than the jelly and I prefer the chunkiness of the jam. Your choice of smooth or crunchy peanut butter. personally I prefer the texture of the crunchy peanut butter.

Pineapple Sandwiches

Chop fine pineapples which have been sweetened and allowed to stand for several hours. Mix with mayonnaise and spread. I have also made these by mixing the pineapples with cream cheese or quark. The quark one I came to love when I visited my son in Germany.

If there is one thing the Germans can do that is bake bread. I have tasted the best bread of my life in Germany. The German breakfast of bread, jam, cheese and cold meats are really tasty and sets you up for a good day.

I shouldn´t read food Hubs when I´m hungry! I´ve never really considered sweet sandwich fillings, but these sound fabulous! In the U.S., I think a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is probably the most common sweet sandwich. I have marked this so I can come back and try some of these. The date, walnut and cream cheese sounds wonderful for breakfast.
