Raw Vegetable Salad
Raw Vegetable Salad

This side dish goes well with the spicy vegetable biryani recipe. This is a healthy as well a very tasty dish. Very easy to prepare, it takes very little time, so can be made quickly.

Ingredients

Onion 1

Tomato 1

Carrot 1 small

Cucumber 1/4 of a whole

Green chili 1

Ginger a small piece (optional)

Lime 1/2

Salt - to taste.

Method

Cut onion and cucumber into rings or chop them fine if you like it that way, tomato into small pieces and carrot into small rounds.(The picture here shows only chopped onions and tomatoes and no carrot).

Or if you like carrot grated, then you may grate it and keep it separately.

Cut green chili into tiny pieces or 2 or 3 pieces as you wish.

Mix the vegetables except grated carrot, add salt and mix well with hand.

Add the juice of half a small lime.

Prepare this salad one hour before serving.

Add the grated carrot when you serve.

Serve with chapati or any spicy rice.

Mary, how very kind of you to say such nice things about Indian food! But believe me, my recipes are nothing compared to your wonderful recipes with superb instructions.

Reading your recipe makes me feel that there is someone standing next to me and giving me instructions. Such lovely photos and descriptions. I am going to follow your example in writing recipe hubs in future.

remaniki, great hub, I love biryani and I really love fresh, crunchy vegetables with it. Usually, I have only had tomato, onion and mint together but your combination sounds much more flavourful. I will certainly try it.

Nice side dish, with extra lime, this would also go extremely well as a side sauce/dish for fish! As it is very similar to a Thai dish I like.
