Light Shrimp Recipe
I have to confess that this is a favorite of mine and my mom's. I have several favorite recipes in case you can not tell by reading my hubs. If I didn't work full time, I would love to open a little place to sit down and eat some great food. I think I might look for a store that has a cute store with a busy store front and attracts a lot of traffic.
My family and I have made this tradition of eating in our condo a few times while we are at the beach. One night I offered to cook a meal for my family and now it has become a tradition that we eat this meal.
While at the beach, you will want to purchase fresh shrimp. For obvious reasons, this is the best shrimp for this particular recipe rather than the shrimp that I can purchase back home that I have access to every day. This will be a hit with you friends. If at all possible, make it easy on yourself and check to see if the place where you plan to buy the shrimp. When purchasing the shrimp, ask if they will remove the veins of the shrimp for you. (This will save you a lot of time). This particular recipe calls for the shrimp to be removed from their shell and veined.
This group of ladies includes my grandmother on my mom's side, my mom's sister, my mom and myself. We always had a great time on our trips and my mom and I have this tradition of eating this shrimp dish while we are at the beach. If there is a night that it's raining or we just want to stay in on that particular night, We fix the Pan Roasted Garlic Shrimp. If the weather permits, you can also bring out the grill (or use the grill at the condo and move the gathering outside.
This dish is prepared with red pepper flakes. This means, depending on who you are preparing this dish for, you may want to adjust the amount of the red pepper flakes. Knowing that my mom isn't crazy about really hot flavor, my grandmother and aunt have problems with heartburn so, you can cut way down on the red pepper flakes or, leave them out altogether.
**Whether you have a large group of people or just a few, be sure to ask them if they are allergic to shrimp.
It's not a crime to make this with frozen shrimp if you aren't at the beach where you can purchase the fresh shrimp. The flavors that make up this wonderful shrimp dish are made up of things such as white cooking wine, olive oil, parsley, garlic.
This is a very easy dish that will make your guests think that they have been served by a professional chef. A great easy upscale meal without having to leave the comfort of your own home. I hope you and your guests enjoy it. This is kind of a meal in and of itself but, it would be great served with some garlic mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and a big loaf of garlic bread. This is a great meal to fix for your spouse at home for a romantic dinner for two, for an Anniversary or Valentine's Day. Making this dish for someone you love, makes them feel special because this recipe is so good, you would think that it came from a restaurant. Bring out the nice china dishes to serve your special guests on.
Please remember to check with your guests that you will be serving, to make sure that no one has an allergy to shrimp and might possibly have a reaction if they came in contact with the shrimp or any of the serving utensils or silverware. Some allergies to shellfish can be life threatening so, this is only a precaution.

Have You Ever Had Pan Roasted Garlic Shrimp Before?
- 1 lb. medium or large shrimp, deveined and shelled
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1/4 cup white cooking wine
- 2 tablespoons parsley
- 1 package angel hair pasta, prepared according to packaged directions
- pinch red peper flakes, if desired (just a very little)
- loaf large french bread
Grilled Garlic with Chili
- Heat the oil. Add garlic and cook about two minutes, stirring vigorously. Add shrimp and cook quickly turning the shrimp only once until the shrimp are light pink.
- Add the cooking wine and cook the shrimp three minutes longer.
- Cook the angel hair pasta as directed on the package. Remove the pasta and drain the water and place on a platter. This pasta has more flavor if you reserve some the liquid from the shrimp and pour the liquid over the pasta.
- This dish is paired well with a large loaf of hot French bread, if desired.

One tip about cooking shrimp on the grill is to soak the skewers in water as directed on package, so that the shrimp that does not stick to the skewers. Even with that, I still spray each skewer with nonstick cooking spray before grilling..
The shrimp can be boiled, fried, baked and of course grilled or steamed and also battered with special seasonings. It also taste great when properly marinated and you can use so many types of dips with shrimp.
Once again, please make sure that none of your guests all allergic to shellfish or iodine.
