How to Make Fried Cabbage that Tastes Delicious

Southern Fried Cabbage

My brother-in-law introduced this recipe to us a couple years ago at a family function, and we have enjoyed it ever since.

Ingredients for Fried Cabbage

  • 1 Large Head of Cabbage, Chopped
  • 1 Large Sweet Onion, Chopped
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • For Variation Green and Red Bell Peppers, Chopped

How to Prepare

  1. Fry the bacon until nice and crisp.
  2. Use bacon drippings to fry the chopped cabbage and onion in a frying pan.
  3. For a healthier version omit the bacon for olive oil.
  4. Cook cabbage until tender.
  5. For variation, add green and red peppers.

      Moonlake, My wife and I use bacon grease when we make this one too! It gives the fried cabbage a great southern taste for sure!

      Yum. I made some fried cabbage recently. We don't use bacon though because we are vegetarian. But I love and miss me some bacon. sigh
