At one point or another everyone has or will have to face anxiety, whether severe or not, its no fun! But there is something you can do! As a severe anxiety sufferer, I wanted to try and find natural ways of dealing with it. One of the ways I decided to try was improving my diet, which was full of processed foods, and sugary fattening foods that not only to my stress, but my weight as well.

I started a search for better eating and found that many of the foods that can help reduce anxiety, were foods that I actually enjoyed, and even foods that I was pretty good at making, though most of the time I was going and and getting processed foods from fast food restaurant, and that processed food can wreak havoc on your anxiety and depression!

Within minutes I was off to the grocery store! Improving my diet not only helped with my anxiety, it also helped me get healthier and gave me more energy, and soon I was creating all sorts of new anxiety fighting recipes and snacks, including this very simple but delicious snack mix. We will be sure to add a lot of those other recipes, but for this article we will stick with the very simple and easy to make snack mix. Lets get started!

What You'll Need!

The great thing about making your own snack mix, is that you get to decided how much of one thing you want to put into it so, for this recipe we wont use measurements, instead I will add the amount of calories one serving of each ingredient has, but feel free to change it up if you want more of something in the snack mix!

Dried Blueberries - One serving has roughly 130 calories

Blueberries are an incredible source of antioxidants, as well as a great source of vitamins! They also help boost immunity, and even boosts brain health! When blueberries are dried they can lose some of their antioxidants and they can have higher calories than fresh, but health benefits are still there and they are a great source of vitamin C which can help combat stress!

Almonds - One serving has 162 calories

Almonds are a good source Vitamins B which produces serotonin helps relieve anxiety, and they are rich in selenium, which has been linked to stress reduction!

Dark Chocolate Chips - One Serving has 70 calories

Cocao has a lot of the same great anti stress antioxidants that blueberries have, and these can add an extra delicious sweetness to your snack mix!

Cashews - One serving has 157 calories

One of my favorites, cashews are a great source of Vitamin B and a natural source of tryptophan, an amino acid that can be converted into serotonin!

Dehydrated Bananas - One serving has roughly 90 calories

The great this about bananas is that they go well with so many other things, and they really tie this recipe together flavor wise, and they are also great for helping with anxiety as well! Bananas are a good source of tryptophan just like cashews!

Now Put It All Together!

Now find yourself a big bowl to pour everything into it, and don't forget to find a container or a plastic bag that you can store them in! Mix all the ingredients together in the ratio you think you want, and remember, the great thing about this recipe is that you can't mess up! You decide how much of something you want and you can experiment with it, even do more research and maybe find more you can put into the recipe, or take something out even. There are no wrong answers here, the goal is to fight back against your anxiety, and even make yourself a healthy and delicious snack! Enjoy!
