Snack Toast, better for you than chips!
Easy steps to a healthier movie night snack
Here is a great recipe for Snack Toast. It is a healthy way to enjoy movie night with your family and not feel guilty the next morning!
1.) Preheat oven to 375.
2.) Oil a large cookie sheet with grape seed oil or olive oil.
3.) Lay on the cookie sheet a loaf of left over whole wheat bread slices or flax seed bread slices all over the cookie sheet.
4.) Spread several slices with almond butter and locally made honey.
5.) Spread several more slices with pesto sause and rings of fresh red onion.
6.) Top the last slices with spoonfuls of salted crushed tomato, green peppers, chopped onion and lots of basil. Add olives to a few of these slices and sprinkle with a touch of parmesan.
7.) Bake for 8-10 minutes
8.) Let the snack toasts cool a few minutes before serving.
9.) Find a wide tray or serving plate to serve the snack toasts on. Cover the tray with fresh greens such as escarole, spinach leaves, mustard greens or lettuce.
10.) Serve with fresh olives and orange slices.
Try sparkling water with a little grape juice instead of soda. After the movie you will go to bed knowing you gave your family something very healthy to sleep on.
