Springtime Sugar Cookies

HI

My name is Lisa and I like sharing recipes with everyone. I will share my favorite Sugar Cookie recipe with you and show you how to make really cute Springtime sugar cookies. The picture that I have added does not do justice to how cute these really come out. Next time I make them I will be sure to update the pictures so you can see how different color food coloring will totally change the outcome of the way the cookies appear. This will not affect the taste at all. This photo will show you the way they came out with neon food coloring. In the past we have made them with more pastel colors and I like the visual affect of those better. Sadly I did not have a photo of those to share so I will share these.

In the meantime what is mostly different about these sugar cookies is how you roll them out and make them look swirled. After making the cookie dough batter you will take 4 or 5 bowls. This will depend on how many colors you have to work with. Now take your cookie dough and split it evenly in each bowl. Now get your food coloring and add two drops of the first color to the first bowl the second color to the second bowl and so on.then you will mix the colors really good to ensure all the cookie dough is the same color in each bowl this will ensure that all your cookies come out the same colors.Once all the cookie dough is mixed thoroughly you will make a small ball about the size of a grape one of each color then take the 4 or 5 color balls of cookie dough and roll them together to form one ball. Do not squeeze them together you want to be able to see they are different colors. Now put roll the dough with two hands to make like a long snake shape about 7-8 inches. Try to keep it one uniform size. Then take out your baking sheet and start by making a small circle and go round and round until all the cookie dough is used you will have about the size of a regular cookie only this will be swirled to give it that springtime look. similar to a pinwheel.

Now you will do this to all your cookie dough and bake following the cookie recipe below.

Once cookies have cooled place them on a colorful platter and you will have a lovely springtime snack!
