Squeeze - The Best Martini Bar in Charleston South Carolina
Squeeze is a martini bar on East Bay Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Aptly named for the narrow space that the bar is "squeezed" into in historic downtown Charleston, Squeeze is one of the best spots to grab a drink in Charleston. Their slogan, "Charleston's tightest bar" could not be more accurate on both literal and anecdotal level.
Here are some of the most popular martinis that you can order at Squeeze.
Absolute pear, house infused vanilla vodka, St. Germaine, Elderflower, Brut champagne
Bing cherry infused bourbon, angostura bitters, sweet vermouth
Sweet and Spicy
Habanera infused tequila, pomegranate liquor, organic agave nectar, splash of soda
Tito's organic vodka, fresh basil, cracked pepper, fresh strawberry puree
Absolute pear, pineapple juice, ginger infused simple syrup, fresh lemon
Dirty (my personal favorite)
Tito's vodka, Spanish olive juice, jalapeno cheese stuffed olives, house picked peppers
Hendrick's gin, black raspberry liquor, fresh lemon juice, twist of lemon
House infused vanilla vodka, lemongrass simple syrup, lychee nut juice, twist of lemon
Single barrel eagle rare bourbon, blueberries, fresh basil, organic agave nectar, splash of soda
Hendrick's gin, fresh lemon juice, superfine sugar, splash of prosecco
Each and every time I have visited, the level of service and the quality of the drinks at Squeeze has been phenomenal. The martinis are made with quality liquors, fresh ingredients, and house infused liquor when the martini calls for it. It is easy to tell that the staff and owners know their way around a bar, know what it takes to make a great drink, and know how to provide a good guest experience. When all of these goods and services are combined into one bar, usually the price of the drinks sky rockets.
The prices at Squeeze are very reasonable. For between $8 and $9, you can get one of the best martinis in town. There is also a selection of high end cocktails and special, difficult to find spirits including small batch bourbons. At plenty of other bars in town, even ones on the same street, you will be paying between $8 and $9 for a single mixed drink and $10 or more for a specialty drink.
The happy hour pricing at Squeeze can't be beat. For $6, you can get any martini on the menu from 5 until 8 pm Monday-Friday. In the above paragraph I described what a good deal the regular prices are at Squeeze, so you can imagine my feelings on the happy hour prices. I've spent more than $6 on a Miller Lite! Talk about a deal.If you are in Charleston, you simply have to stop by Squeeze for a martini during happy hour. They also offer happy hour specials on bottled beer and mixed drinks.
Squeeze is located at 213 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC. Right in the heart of downtown Charleston, Squeeze is near several restaurants, shopping locations, and within walking distance of Rainbow Row and the historic homes and gardens that make Charleston famous. Also, the city market, which is a great place to shop for local arts and crafts, is right around the corner.
Squeeze - Charleston's Tightest Bar
What Makes Squeeze Special?
Service, service service. The bartenders at Squeeze are some of the most accommodating bartenders that I have ever encountered. The small size of the bar only allows a certain number of customers at one time, which I think elevates the level of service that the bartenders can provide. Even when the bar is busy, the drinks are always made with care and professionalism. Most martini drinkers would rather wait an extra couple minutes for a quality drink than have their drink in hand, but made poorly.
The chill atmosphere, good service, and good drinks at Squeeze make it one of the best bars in Charleston to hang out and sip martinis with friends after work or on a night out.
