Steve Kallenbach Family Missouri State Fair Farm Family of the Year
A young family of four from Eugene was recently named the Miller County Farm Family of the year. Steve wasn’t completely surprised at the award as he was made aware that they were in the running when the nomination was revealed at the July Miller County extension meeting. The family was invited to the state fair on Monday August 13th . The Kallenbach family was treated to a celebratory dinner and award ceremony.
Steve and his wife Jessica have two children Qwinten and Adley. Steve is a lifelong resident of Eugene. He graduated from Cole County RV High School in Eugene in 2003. His wife Jessica grew up in Eldon and graduated from Eldon High School in 2003. An employee of the Missouri Department of Agriculture for ten years, Steve is a meat and poultry inspector. Jessica works at Eldon Drug Store. His children attend Eugene schools.
What qualifies one’s family to be nominated and awarded this designation? Steve tells that the qualifications are being active with MU Extension and supporting agriculture. Their kids are active in 4H. He is on the Miller County MU Extension Council and support agriculture with his employment at the Department of Agriculture.
Steve and his family attend Eldon Church of the Nazarene. Steve serves as a council member of Miller County MU Extension. The family enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping. Qwinten and Adley spend their free time in 4H. They are members of T Town 4H. Qwinten showed hams and bacon at the Miller County Fair this year. He also participates in shooting sports. Adley is a Clover Kid.

The Kallenbach family enjoyed their special day at the state fair. Steve shares that many state dignitaries were there for the award presentation. The Director and Deputy Director of the Missouri State Department of Agriculture, the Missouri State Fair Commissioners, the Associate Vice Chancellor for MU Extension & Engagement, the Assistant Dean of MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, the MO Farm Bureau Board of Director’s Vice President, and the Missouri State Fair Director attended the award ceremony.
Steve reports that his family was excited to spend the entire day at the fair, where they were treated like VIPs all day long.
