Sweet and sour mango chatani (sauce)

Things needed to make chatani

  1. 2 big raw mangoes
  2. turmeric powder 1 1/2 tsp
  3. 30 gms mustarted seed powder
  4. mustarted seeds 1 tsp
  5. Edible lime(chuna from pan walas)1 1/2 tspginger paste 10 gms
  6. salt to taste
  7. mustarted oil 150 gms
  8. meethi seeds (fenugreek seeds)20 gms
  • Method :-
  • first peel the mangoes and cut them in cubes remove the seed
  • cut the cubes into lices
  • apply lime paste (chuna)to the sliced mano pices
  • keep them aside for one hour and then wash them in water
  • leave them to dry
  • In a wok put the oil and put fenugreek seeds mustarted seeds then put the sliced mango pieaces
  • stir the content and then cover it with a plate
  • after some time put sugar tumeric powder grounded mustarted seed powder ginger paste and all the other masalas kept for the sauce
  • as soon and the mangoes become soft remove it from fire
  • pour in in a china clay pot ,it can stay good for many days and can be used to enhance the take of the food

Mango is a fruit which could be made into anything jam sauces mamlade or pickles

      frogyfish,Chutneys are really digestive, if you have gone through my hubs you would have read how to make raw mango squash which is called panna in India .It is extealy healthy digestive and has cooling effect .we have it in summers to beat the heat .Ihave even written about tamarind chutney ,that too is great to taste .If you wish you may visit to I am writing some recepies there too.

      Edible lime is called chuna in India that is applied on pan(beetle leaves)Iam putting a picture for you to see ,please check the slide show once again to see edible lime.

      I really like mangoes. Have made a chutney from them a few times. Your recipe sounds delicious - do you mean that the sauce 'helps food digestion' too? That would be great as well as delicious. But I don't know what 'edible lime' is.
