The Benefits of Drinking Fruit and Vegetable Smoothies

There are a plethora of ways to feel better physically and mentally. There are just as many things to eat that can make you feel better. However, lately I have found that the intake of fruit and vegetables is uber important in aiding one to feel better. Both young and old. Eating less meat and doing the plant based thing can alter your life in unimaginable ways! Below you will find a information from informative links and a little bit of what made me become acquainted with fruit and vegetable smoothies! I hope it helps to make your life a little bit smoother!

Every now and then you start to listen to the voice in the back of your thoughts...the one that reminds you that you are getting older and not younger! and you need to take better care of yourself...this voice...for me...talks a lot about eating greens, eating fruit...and drinking water (but I already wrote that hub about water)...anyway eating greens has always been a challenge for plate always seems to pass by the vegetables when dinner time comes...I used to eat more fruit when I was younger...not so much these days until I decided to do something about it. I like so many people believe that the pulp is just as important as the juice...its fibrous nature is important to the digestive I did some research and came across a few sites that I personally agreed with...I decided to start making and drinking the smoothies...well to my surprise I got right into it and I've been drinking the stuff since...which is about the same time I started this new road to a healthier life...I've been drinking way more water and exercising again...all in all the smoothies have helped my energy level and one of the most important differences I have found for myself is less tenderness in the gums...hmmmmmmm....that definitely isn't something I read...I didn't try some recipe for happened organically while I was experimenting with the basic recipes...finally I mixed one that I truly enjoy and find it tasty and healing! Remember you can try different combinations until you come across something you find palatable.

Karen's Favorite Recipe

1. handful and a half of leafy green spinach

2. one carrot

3. one whole orange without skin

4. handful of grapes

5. half a cup of filtered water

6. half of a ripe tomato (depending on the size)

7. half of plum with the seed taken out

8. half of a sweet apple

Benefits of drinking fruit/veggie smoothies

1. it makes you feel better in the long run

2. it fills you up so you don't want to over eat therefore helping you lose weight

3. it keeps you regular and is great for detoxing

4. it keeps the cold away

5. it gives you more energy throughout your day

      I have just started doing the smoothie thing and loving it. I have even given my smoothie a name, I call it the concoction. I use spinach, spring greens, carrots, radishes, avocodo, broccoli, cauliflower, with an apple, orange, lemon, pear to make my base. Then I mix in ground flax seed, ground almonds, ground sunflower seeds and ground pumpkin seeds Finally I mix frozen fruit: frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, frozen black berries, raspberries and blueberries. This is my Concoction smoothie and it is so good.

      @Chris thanks for reading and leaving your comments!!! I'm still drinking my veggie smoothies and juicing pretty regularly and I feel wonderful. I did a 4 day juice/veggie smoothie fast and that was hard but I felt great during and after!! Peace and light..kgr

Yes yes I really agree with you on the fact that we have to as a society inspire each other to live and eat healthier...fruits and veggies just make you feel is as simple as that...and that is coming from a reformed meat and rice only kinda gal :)

      I have a friend who has been juicing for years and raves about its success. It just goes to show that the best food for our body is what grows from the ground. Meat is necessary, but only as a spice; this is according to my friend. With the amount of obesity and its cadre of subsequent health problems, we ALL to need more fruits of the earth. Great hub.       I read what you wrote about the smoothies and it is quite interesting. I also was impressed with the fact that you use the same affirmation I use, peace and light. Using that saying means that you are truly conscious and spiritual. Cool!Peace and light,LOL!

      Looking at it I would rather eat them whole before blended. Maybe thats just because green gooey drinks dont look good to me, I do love watermelon red ones made with real watermelon and some other fruits!

      Fruit smoothies, I've got under my belt; vegetables, not so much. Really trying on that one. Rather eat than drink it-an acquired taste. However, never tried fruit and vegetable blend. Might give it a shot and let you know.
