Tomato Recipe - Introduction
Dear Readers,
For people who don't know what is Tomato Rice, you could get to know through this hub.
For other people who know what it is, you might have come across lot many ways of making Tomato Rice. But this is a typical South Indian style of making Tomato Rice.
I have considered the ingredients to make the tasty mouth watery tomato rice only for 2 person.
Cook Time
Ingredients
- 1/4 kg Rice, Thoroughly washed
- 100 ml Refined Oil/Ghee
- 1/2 tea spoon Mustard
- 2 pieces Cinnamon
- 3 pieces Cloves
- 2 pieces Cardamom
- 4 Flakes Garlic, Grated
- ¼ piece Ginger, Grated
- 1 or 2 Green chilies, cut in to pieces
- 100gms big onion, cut in to pieces
- 1 tea spoon Chili powder
- ¼ tea spoon Turmeric
- ½ tea spoon Salt
- ¼ kg Tomato, cut in to pieces
- ½ liter Water
- 15 to 25 gms Coriander leaves for garnishing
- 5 leaves Curry leaves
- ½ tea spoon Bengal Gram/Chana dhal
Step by step guide to make Mouth Watery Tomato Rice
- Soak rice for 15 minutes in water. Drain water and keep it aside
- In a frying pan , pour the oil and heat it. Add mustard to the oil and wait until it crackles
- In the same pan, add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, curry leaves, bengal gram dal and fry for a minute
- Add ginger & garlic to it, fry for a minute and add green chilies and onions
- Fry till onion turns light brown. Add tomato pieces to it
- Now add salt, chili powder and turmeric to it
- After tomatoes are cooked for 3 to 4 minutes, add rice to it and stir
- Now add coriander leaves and pour down water and cook properly
- Garnish with chopped tomato, onion and coriander leaves
- Tomato Rice can be served with coconut chutney or Pickle or Pudina chutney or Potato chips
