A different apple crumble recipe
Apple pie or apple crumble?
It is something in between, but definitely delicious and with apples. Juicy, sweet and plenty of them. Apple is such a versatile fruit. One can make jams, marmalade, pies, cakes, mousse, salads, stuff with apples and many more things with apples. I love cooking with apples. My favorite out of all the apple recipes are apple pies. But this one is not exactly an apple pie. It is something between an apple crumble and an apple pie. The key to this recipe is that you do not need to make a dough for it. Everything is done from scratch in this apple crumble recipe.
Ingredients for the different apple crumble
- 5 apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup plain white flour
- 0,5 cup semolina flour
- 200g frozen butter (keep in freezer)
- cinnamon, clove, vanilla for spicing
- Vanilla Ice Cream to go with the crumble
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C. Take a shallow baking tray and lay a sheet of baking paper on it.
Mix semolina with flour and put a 1cm layer of this mix straight on the baking paper. Grate a 1cm layer of frozen butter over the layer of flour, sprinkle with sugar. Now lay all the finely sliced apples on top of the butter and sugar. Sprinkle cinnamon and vanilla on the apples.
Continue by putting a 0,5cm layer of flour, 0,5cm layer of butter, and the rest of sugar on top. Put the tray to the oven and bake for 40 minutes or till golden brown and bubbling.
