The Best Coney Island Hot Dog You Will Ever Eat

In case you don't know the Coney Island Hot Dog refers to an all beef hot dog , all beef chili , mustard , and onions. And I personally think a Coney Island Hot Dog should always be grilled. Warm your buns by leaving them in the plastic bun wrapper and microwave your buns to heat your buns. Or if you really want to make the ultimate Coney Dog butter your Hot Dog Buns and grill your buns on a grill until they are golden brown.

Here I'm going to share with you one of the best recipes for Coney Island Chili Sauce that you will ever taste. And while you can choose to have your Coney Dogs with or with out cheese I love my Coney Island Dogs with the mixed shredded Mexican cheese or with cheese whiz that has been heated in a small crock pot. Some people like to serve sauteed or grilled peppers and onions on their hot dogs along with the cheese whiz. Their really is no hard and fast rule as to what you can put on your Coney Dog or Hot Dog. Just add what you think would taste good and give it a try.

You will want to grill your all beef wieners to go on your Coney Island Hot Dogs. And yes it does make a big difference in the taste of your Coney Island Hot Dogs. I myself think that Hebrew National All Beef Wieners make the best Coney Island Hot Dogs you will ever taste and enjoy. The best quality beef wieners make the best Coney Island Hot Dogs. Remember you get what you pay for. The better quality beef wieners will always taste much better than the cheap hot dogs. So always buy the best quality hot dog wieners and you will always have the best tasting Coney Dogs.

And Here's A Recipe For Classic Coney Island Chili Sauce.

1. Two Pounds Of Ground Beef.

2. One Half Cup Fine Chopped Sweet Onion.

3. One And A Half Cups Ketchup.

4. One Fourth Cup White Granulated Sugar.

5. One Fourth Cup White Vinegar.

6. One Fourth Cup Yellow Mustard.

7. One Level Teaspoon Celery Seed.

8. One Teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce.

9. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.

10. One Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper.

In a large skillet cook your ground beef and onions together until your ground beef is brown and done. Just don't burn your onions. Now drain well and pour into a crock pot. Now add in all your other ingredients and stir to mix well. Its real important that you don't burn your onions and that your hamburger gets done so chop the hamburger up real fine while you cook it into very small pieces.

Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on the low setting for six hours before you use on your Coney Island Hot Dogs. I think you will find that you have just created the best sauce for Coney Island Hot Dogs that you will ever taste and enjoy. Yes the sauce is that good.

No there is no chili powder in the chili sauce for Coney Island Hot Dogs. Try it by the above recipe and see what you think.

You can serve the below items on the side with your Coney Dogs and allow your guests and family to add what they want to their Coney Dogs.

1. Fine Chopped Sweet Onion.

2. Pickle Relish.

3. Sauteed Sweet Onions.

4. Jalapeno Pepper Slices.

5. Mustard.

6. Ketchup.

7. Mexican Shredded Cheese.

8. Fresh Fine Diced Tomatoes.

9. Shredded Lettuce.

10. Crumbled Bacon.

11. Dill Pickle Spears.

12. Cheese Whiz heated in a small crock pot.

Set up a mini buffet bar with all your hot dog toppings on it and allow your guests and family to add what they want to their Coney Dogs. You may be surprised at what people like on their Coney Dogs. I really like the crumbled bacon and cheese whiz on mine.

Did you know that the worlds longest hot dog was 197 feet long and it was placed in a 198 foot long bun.Now how would you like to try to eat all of that hot dog. If it was made into a Coney Dog I think I just might give it a try. How about you?

If you serve a hot dog to young children especially those 6 years or younger cut the hot dog up into small bite size pieces or in long strips before you serve the hot dog to the kids. Hot Dogs are a real choking hazard to young children. Remember the young girl getting choked in the movie Field Of Dreams.

I was not a fan of this recipe. It tasted like sloppy joe mix, not chili

I thoroughly enjoyed this hub. I actually ran a small diner in Baltimore city and we specializedin coney island hotdogs. We actually kept the buns in wrappers and steamed them to give off that fresh oxidized soft taste and feel. Very delicious, and also prepared steamed hamburgers, which happened to be very one of a kind in Baltimore at the time (five years ago). I love the hub andom definitely one of your newest fans.

As a youngster whose parents loved Coney Island Hot Dogs, we discovered it wasn't Nathan's that carried the day. Directly across Coney Island Blvd. was Hebrew National. That was a dog. Meaty, Juicy, full of taste far tastier than where Nathan's, If you had an extra quarter (probably $2.50 today), HN had a Potato Knish that brought tears to my Hungarian Grandmother's eye/ . One sample bite and i traded in the Dogs for the Knish. California has it's charm, but no Hebrew National Knishes. David Russell

This sounds great! I love coneys, especially with homemade oniom rings!

Here's a trick I learned to make the coney sauce smooth, just like in the coney island restaurants. Put the ground beef in a bowl of water in the fridge for several hours. When you brown it, the excess water will cook off and you'll have a much finer texture. I know it sounds odd, but it works.
