The Best Hot Wing Recipe

Hot Sauce

In our home, we make a point of cooking and baking our foods from scratch, to the best of our abilities. We live on a farm so even our chicken is raised at home. My family is also particularly fond of hot wings and buffalo chicken, so there came a day when I knew I would have to find a good recipe for hot wing sauce!

As with many of my cooking endeavors, there was plenty of trial and error. I find that experimenting, although time consuming, tends to yield more favorable results.

What you'll need:

(For approximately 2lbs of boneless tenders or 3lbs of wings)

  • 1 Stick (8 tblsp) salted or unsalted butter (depending upon your taste for salt)
  • 1+ Cup Frank’s Red Hot ®
  • 2 tblsp. malt vinegar
  • 2 tblsp. mustard
  • 1 tblsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. celery salt
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. onion powder


Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat until butter is melted and ingredients are well blended.

Add additional Frank's Red Hot, or salt, to taste.


After your chicken; wings, or tenders, have finished cooking place it in a large mixing bowl. Then pour the sauce over the chicken and toss or mix with a utensil. Remove with tongs, garnish with celery, and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

Chunky blue cheese is our favorite!
