The Best Places to Get Chef's Knives
This list will hopefully help you find that new set of culinary tools that you've been looking for. Let me assist you in finding your best, new chopping friends!
Number One: Restaurant Depot
Restaurant Depot makes it to number one because they have just about anything a professional chef could possibly need. This place is a paradise for me, and everytime I walk in, I get super excited. From great produce and endless aisles of shelves filled to the brim with great ingredients, to chef supplies. They have it all.
If you don't work in the food industry, good luck getting access, though. This is a members-only store where you will need a resale license. They make my list because I have a membership card, and they can be found around the country. They may not have the greatest customer service, but I believe this is because they expect people to know what they are looking for when they come in, due to the fact that this is mostly for restaurant employees.
Number Two: Ace Mart Restaurant Supply
Ace Mart may not have the biggest selection in store, but if you have one in your area make sure to stop by and grab one of their catalogs. Ace Mart has everything you could possibly need in their catalog, and if they don't have it in the shop, they will surely order it and have it sent to the store for you to pickup at your convenience. The staff is always great at every location I have been to, and I really appreciate the professionalism that they show.
Number Three: Bed Bath and Beyond
Bed Bath and Beyond is a really great store for kitchen needs- along with just about anything else. Although they don't have a huge selection of chef cutlery, what they do have is very high quality brands. The Downside is, the big price tag comes with it. Unless you're willing to spend about a thousand dollars on a beautiful Shun Brand knife set, this may not be the place for you.
Number Four: Sur La Table
Sur la Table is a fantastic store, and People love it here because it has amazing equipment for all types of kitchens. But if you're in the market for some chefs knives, you can find the same quality metal at much better prices at the shops listed above. (That being said- I do love this store, and would recommend it for just about anything else.)
Do You Agree?
Do you agree with my list? Do you have a great local restaurant supply shop that would blow any of these chain stores out of the water? Be sure to let me know because I would love to hear about it. I am always shopping for new knives!
I hope you have found my article helpful. If you did- great! Please let me know! If not- tell me where I am wrong, this is all just my personal experience, after all. Thanks a lot for reading. Sincerely,
