The Claddagh: Irish Restaurant/Pub Review- Menu & Prices
The Claddagh (pronounced "Clodd-ah")
The Claddagh ring is, by traditional definition, an Irish ring given to a loved one that symbolizes love, loyalty, and friendship. The warmth and friendly environment of this restaurant embodies those virtuous sentiments.

Ambience and Decor
Sondra and I arrived around 7pm to a moderately busy venue. Traffic increased slightly during the 45 minutes we were there.
The first thing you appreciate about the Claddagh is the atmosphere. The dining room and bar are absolutely beautiful. So much hard wood! I've spent time in European pubs and there is definitely a similarity between this one and the ones I frequented while living in Europe. The only difference- the Claddagh is cleaner.
I love visiting restaurants and I find that every venue has a feeling, a sense of it's own as unique as the dishes they serve. Each venue has an impact on the patron and the Claddagh is no exception. The first impression I had was that I was in a mood to talk. The décor and ambience invites a cerebral experience. You definitely don't want to go to the Claddagh alone. Like the legend of the ring claims, it's for friends who are loving and loyal and...ready for good food!
A Restaurant Named After A Ring
As we drank up the atmosphere I thought of how the Claddagh would be the perfect place to take a client or new employee for dinner. The food is good and the prices are high enough to merit the expectation of a quality experience, but affordable enough to play the host for your special guest. I liked the business casual feel. I didn't notice many, if any, children. You decide if that's good, bad, or neither. I love kids, but sometimes it's refreshing to eat out and not hear crying or have to deal with kids menus, crayons and the like. We may have just found our "grown up" dining experience.
I would feel equally comfortable in a suit coat and tie. Not many venues have that eclectic touch as to make me feel at ease as far as dress goes. It's one of those touches that doesn't seem intentional, but is discovered by pleasurable accident.

The Claddagh is conveniently located on the grounds of the Eastwood Towne Center mall. What a great place to end the day after shopping and walking for hours! A superb NCG theater is also on the property, so dinner before or after the show is a no brainer.

If you like to have some fun while you eat you're in for a treat. Play along with other patrons as everyone does their best to answer trivial questions about pop culture's favorite TV shows including Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, Game of Thrones, The Office, and more!

Food Quality and Service
This portion of the article would usually come first, but I was so smitten with the decor of The Claddagh that I felt impressed to feature it right away.
The food was terrific. The only complaint I had was that my chips, while still very good, were on the threshold of cooling. I think this may have happened because the chips function as a bed for the cod. I can see the logic in this arrangement because since the cod is deep fried in batter it makes sense that it would help keep the chips hot. Perhaps they sat a minute too long prior to the addition of the cod. It happens. I think next time I will request the chips on the side.
The cod itself was cooked to perfection and tasted fresh.
The coleslaw, while tasty, was on the threshold of getting warm.
I had visited the week before and had A+ service and food. This time I would rate it at a B+ just because of the temperature issues. The atmosphere more than compensated for those minor deficiencies. All in all it was a fabulous experience that I recommend to all without hesitation.

Working Up an Appetite
Work up an appetite by hiking the beautiful trails at Granger Park located just behind the mall where The Claddagh is located. (see map below) Or maybe you're like me and Sondra. I don't like to go into a nice restaurant like The Claddah having worked up a sweat. I'd rather go for a good hike after an early dinner, an early movie, then hit the trail for that hike to rejuvenate and rid myself of some of those calories. Heck, by then I'll be ready to head back to The Claddagh for an appetizer and a drink!
(It's also driving distance to Sleepy Hollow State Park- approximately 25 minutes away)

Come To The Claddagh
This venue is perfect for us, and I believe you will like it as well. The location is vibrant and bustling with shops and stores for every fancy. A marvelous theater, as I mentioned previously, is within walking distance. Granger Park, coffee shops and deli's, even a new/used video game store is right around the corner- a post dinner behavioral incentive for your little gamers. Sondra pointed out that it would also be an ideal stop for a tour group. Lansing features tour groups to the Michigan State Capital regularly, about a 10 minute drive to the pub. You may have to plug your ears for the Capital tour as listening to bantering politicians may cause nausea and diminish the appetite. Groups visiting Michigan's Historical Museum, Lugnut Stadium, etc, would be glad to have the chance to dine at The Claddagh. Seating is abundant and inviting. Traveller's heading north or south on US 127 would find a hearty meal and a wonderful experience here as well.
I've written a few restaurant reviews and I can honestly say that this has been my favorite thus far, both to visit as well as write about. I hope this review is of value as you plan your next outing, business dinner or vacation. Cheers!
