The Cost of Making Potato Side Dishes

Updated on October 23, 2013

We have probably all bought the frozen french fries at the grocery store. Many of us have
bought frozen twice baked potatoes that you just have to pop in the oven. But homemade potatoes taste so much better, you can make them the way you like, and you can control the quality of the ingredients, the salt and the fat. When making potato dishes, I usually make extra and freeze the leftovers for a quick side at a later date. See:

I've included the cost of my ingredients at the bottom of the article so you can compare to prices in your area.

I have made it a point to buy potatoes and make all of our own french fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, seasoned potatoes, and everything else you can think of. Not only is it much healthier sans the preserving chemicals, but it's way cheaper, and WAY tastier. Nice article.
