Updated on December 12, 2017

Delicious old fashioned

Old fashioned ingredients

  • 2 ounces Rye whiskey, Rittenhouse or Bulleit are the best bang for your buck
  • 4 dashes Aromatic bitters, Angostura
  • 1/2 ouce Simple syrup, Master of Mixes
  • 1/2 slice Orange, Fresh
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry, Luxardo Brand
  • 1 Old Fashioned Glass, As pictured
  • 1 Large ice cube, 2.5"

Ingredients for an old fashioned

Perfect old fashioned steps

First step is to put the large ice cube in the glass. I use a smaller rock glass to freeze about 2.5 inches of water for my ice cubes. It works pretty well but is a little harder to get out of the glass than the plastic ice cylinder sets you can get online for about $10.

Large ice cube

Add 2 shots of rye whiskey

I typically use Rittenhouse or Bulleit as it is the best bang for your buck.

Add 1/2 ounce simple syrup

Add 4 dashes of bitters

Add a maraschino cherry

Add a slice of orange

Swirl the glass for about 10 seconds

Serve on a napkin and enjoy

Serve on a napkin and enjoy. That is all there is to it. Start by following the recipe to a T and then adjust as you see fit. After all, the perfect Old fashioned is what tastes best to you. Enjoy and please share this with your friends.
