Toffee Crackers

Updated on July 16, 2016
5 stars from 1 rating of Toffee Saltines

Cook Time

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 20 min
Ready in: 30 min
Yields: 40 saltines ready in 1 hour counting cooling time

  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Line saltine crackers in a single layer on the cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees on middle rack for 5 to 6 minutes or until you see bubbles. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for about 1 minute then spread over crackers. Top with chopped nuts. Cool completely. Allow to cool completely.
  2. In a small pot combine sugar and butter and bring to a boil. Once mixture is at a boil, continue boiling for 3 minutes. Mixture should be a deep caramel color. Immediately pour over saltines and spread to cover crackers completely.
  3. Then place cookie sheet in fridge for approximately 30 minutes. (This allows foil to peel easily from saltines). Break into pieces and enjoy!

Thanks! It isn't hard and they can be addictive! The key to making it almost effortless is the fridge time. That way you're not trying to peel of foil from gooey treats!
