Another popular ingredient in most cold drinks is ice cream, which is used to create cold drinks such as milkshakes or smoothies. Alcohol is another popular ingredient in cold drinks for an intoxicating effect. Almost all drinks that contain alcohol are served cold. Summer time is a great season for cold beverages to be enjoyed by everyone while playing outside and even while having fun at the beach. Cold beverages are the opposite of hot beverages, and the preference of beverage can vary from person to person. Many people love cold drinks that are refreshing and sweet during the warm weather and mainly summer time. So why not combine summer time fruit with the best cold beverages for a more enhanced flavor during the summer season?
There are many different types of cold beverages to choose from, including cold beverages that are prepared with or without alcohol or water and even cold beverages that are poured over or blended with ice. Cold beverages can refresh everyone and some cold beverages can even contain nutrition when prepared with healthy and natural ingredients. Cold beverages are best for hot weather, but can be consumed anytime!
1. Homemade Ginger Ale
Ginger ale is a carbonated soft drink that is flavored with ginger by either the golden style, which is closer to the ginger beer original, or the dry style, which is also called the pale style because it is a paler drink with a much milder ginger-flavor to it. Everyone likes ginger ale, so why not make it fresh from home? All that is necessary is some sugar, fresh ginger, water, club soda, and candied ginger pieces. This first top cold beverage is number one because it is only 72 calories plus ginger is cures nausea and joint pain. Club soda is low in sugar and also low in other unhealthy ingredients. Try adding unique ingredients to ginger ale, such as:
- Orange slices
- Lemon or lime wedges
2. Frosty Ice Cream Soda
An ice cream soda is a cold drink that consists of ice cream in either a soft drink or in a mixture of flavored syrup and carbonated water. There are so many different variations of this cold beverage and everyone loves ice cream. Why not mix ice cream with soda for an incredible frosty cold beverage? Don't forget the whipped cream topping. Alcohol may be added to this beverage. Some of the different variations for this cold drink include:
- Vanilla ice cream in root beer, known as a Root Beer Float.
- Chocolate ice cream in vanilla Coke.
- Vanilla ice cream in 7-up or Sprite, called a Snow White.
- Vanilla ice cream in grape flavored soda, called a Purple Cow.

4. JELL-O Spritzers
Everyone loves JELL-O, so let's make a cold drink with it. Just make the JELL-O like normal, then break it into small pieces and add a cold drink to it. This is a recipe that is mainly for the hot summer season, but it can be prepared during any season. This cold drink seems like it would be great for holidays because of the different colors/flavors that JELL-O comes in, plus the seasonal beverages that could be added. Candy and other garnishments can be used to make this cold drink appealing. Some cool ingredients to use for this drink are:
- Raspberry JELL-O with raspberries and ginger ale.
- Lime JELL-O with cherries and vanilla flavored soda.
- Orange JELL-O with banana slices and pineapple juice.
5. Kool-Aid Fruit Punch
Kool-Aid is a ready to use drink mix. It is in a powder form and is available in a variety of flavors. Sweeteners have already been added, but there is Kool-Aid that does not contain any sweeteners. This final cold drink is awesome because everyone loves Kool-Aid and it's easy to prepare. First, mix the Kool-Aid powder with any flavored fruit juice, just make sure the flavors coincide with one another. Then add any fresh fruit or vegetable that will make this drink more appealing.
