Tortuga Cayman Island Rum Cake

A Taste Of The Cayman Islands

On my last trip to Grand Cayman just three months ago, I purchased two large 33oz Golden Original Tortuga Rum Cakes from the departure lounge at Owen Roberts International Airport. At the time, I suspected that that two Tortuga Rum Cakes just weren’t going to be enough to last until my next trip! It turns out I was right, as I have just finished devouring my very last slice of golden, sticky, traditional caribbean goodness.

An Authentic Treat

A pure indulgence of an authentic treat that is made daily on Grand Cayman island, the Tortuga Rum Cake comes from a secret recipe that originated over 100 years ago. More than 10,000 Tortuga Rum Cakes are baked every day and shipped worldwide. That’s great news because we don’t have to wait until our next Grand Cayman vacation to buy more; Tortuga Cayman Island Rum Cake is readily available to purchase online.

Soaked in oak barrel aged 5 year old Tortuga Gold Rum, the Golden Original Rum Cake is one of the many flavors available, but happens to be my favorite. With wonderfully sticky, rum-laced edges to every slice, this rum cake is a real taste of the Caribbean!

The late Chef Tell, who operated Tell's Grand Old House in Georgetown on Grand Cayman for more than a decade, knew of the Tortuga Rum Cake treat, but his dessert chef, Suladda May, created whiz-bang delicacies as well in his kitchen. Still, the rum cakes are an export for which all Caymanians can stand tall proudly.

Hi Lilleyth, these cakes do make good gifts. After my husband and I got married in Grand Cayman we brought several of these cakes back for our family and friends - it was like our "wedding cake"!

I brought back rum cake for all my friends. It makes for an excellent souvenir. When I was there I heard that rum cake is Cayman's largest export! I wonder if it's true... cause I'd believe it :) Delicious!
