What to give your baby when you start on solids

Updated on March 2, 2016

When is the best time to start solid food for your baby? How will you know if they are ready to start solid food?

Normally they start solid food from 4 months up. But these days they recommend to start solids from 6 months up. You will know if your bub is ready to start solid food with the signs of, when he sees you eating he shows signs that he wants too, when you put food next to his mouth with a spoon he opens his mouth.

I personally started my son when he was just around 4 months as he wanted some every time he saw us eating and he was ready. He loved eating! I started my bub on fruits first and then vegetables. I went with an apple first and he loved it and he still does at 8 months old.

Always when yo start on solids don't mix them together at first do then separate to see if they are allergic to any of them. Always feed him at least 3 or four day with the same vegetable or fruits.

Fruits that you can start your bub on from 4 months

Apples, banana, nectarines, peach,

Pears be careful with pears as sometimes they are a bit like sandy inside.

Carrots, potatoes, pumpkin, peas and more.

Always cooks the fruits and vegetables until soft and then blend to a smooth puree.
