Reasons People Go Vegan And Why You Should Too

Veganism is becoming more and more popular. People have many reasons to go vegan, but many also give up after some time. What makes them do so and what can you do to start and keep living a healthy plant-based diet and lifestyle?

Why do people go vegan and why you should too?

1. For Better Health

Well-prepared and planned vegan diets can give us all the nutrients we need it to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. From clearing acne, sleeping better, to feeling more light and energetic, many people notice some of those or more changes when they switch to plant-based eating and these are some of the reasons why many start this diet. However, don’t let this fool you. There is unhealthy vegan junk food, so it all depends on what type of food you consume. We will discuss how to reach better health results on a vegan diet further down below.

2. For the Environment

There is a lot of damage to the environment due to the destruction of land for the mass construction of animal factories. That land could potentially be a great source of food for us too, but it is instead fed to livestock. Then it releases gases such as methane, one of the causes for global warming, while at the same time destroying forests that have been a habitat for other animals and endangered species. There are far too many reasons why environmentalists go vegan.

3. For the Animals

Animal lovers are a large portion of those who go vegan. People who have developed emotional attachments to animals and who are against animal abuse have a very clear purpose and it is simply to not take part in something that goes against their moral values. Avoiding animal products is the most obvious way to stand against animal cruelty.

4. For Managing Body Weight More Easily

While this is not the most common reason to go vegan, it is still a benefit for some since many vegan foods are not as rich in fats as animal-related products. We do not recommend food restrictions and limiting calories for weight loss. You can live a fully healthy and abundant vegan lifestyle, getting enough daily energy from food, and combined with a healthy amount of physical activity, you can still lose weight without limiting your body from vital vitamins and minerals.

      I am not vegan. However, I have consumed a lot of plant-based food for the past few months. My husband and I are moderate on eating red meat. We eat a lot of chicken and fish. Thank you for sharing, Peta. I truly believe eating healthy food is important for our bodies.

      Thank you! This just confirmed all the reasons that I went vegan, but I mostly started thinking about it due to health reasons. I truly do not believe us humans are meant to eat animal products. I'm so happy I made the change!

      Bravo, well done. We are not Vegan here but we really go the extra mile to consume mostly beneficial plant food. I do not think there is any question in this time and space that being a Vegan is not the healthiest choice. No meat today!

      Unfortunately, junk foods are everywhere, so it can sometimes be difficult to avoid them, but it is not impossible.

      I became a vegetarian a few years ago Tery, however, I still enjoy eating fish. I have found that I feel healthier and sleep much better. There are many wonderful dishes which are easy to prepare and are extremely nutritional, however, I tend to stay away from the junk food which I see creeping onto the market.
