Wine Making Recipes From Scratch

If you are a wine lover who’s gotten into making your own or want to get into it, you might want to know that there are quite a few wine making recipes out there. The easiest way to make homemade wine is to buy a kit of a flavor that you like. This way you know that the wine you are making will actually end up as wine.

Choosing to make wine from scratch can turn into a lot work. You have to select the fruit or fruit concentrate, get yeast and do the fermenting. Not mention getting all the equipment you’re going to need to cook the wine up in. If you have never made wine before making it from scratch is not an easy thing to do. I would recommend buying a wine making kit.

Wine making kits include everything you could need to make your own wines, including the equipment, instructions, and ingredients and they are a fun and rewarding way of making your own wine in the comfort of your home.

The kits also come with different wine making recipes.

Two Different Flavors Of Wine Making Recipes

You can actually make homemade wine from anything. Doesn't have to be just grape juice. You can make wine from tinned fruit, rice, flowers, tea, coffee even dried fruit. All you need is something for the flavor, water, sugar and yeast, and the equipment. Wine making kits will give you want you need.

Below are a couple of wine making recipes to give you just an idea of what you can do.

Common Wine Recipe

7g active dry yeast
800g sugar
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen juice concentrate (not citrus)
3310ml cold water

combine all ingredients in a gallon jug
rinse out a large balloon and fit it over the top of the jug
secure the balloon with a rubber band

place jug in a cool dark place
in a day you will notice the balloon start to expand
as the sugar turns to alcohol, the gasses released will fill the balloon
when the balloon is deflated back to size the wine is ready to drink
this takes about 6 weeks.

Traditional Roman Home brew

5 lbs very ripe pears
1 lb raisins
2 lbs ultra fine sugar
1 ½ teaspoons acid blend
½ teaspoon pectic enzyme
1 teaspoon yeast nutrient
1 package wine yeast

Boil water in large pot. Chop pears and place in primary fermentation container. Add the sugar and citric acid to the container. Pour water over fruit and stir until sugar has dissolved. Let cool until room temperature. Add the pectic enzyme and let liquid rest for 1 day. Add the yeast and yeast nutrient, cover, and place in warm, dark location. Stir daily for 1 week. Rack into secondary fermentation container. Seal with airlock. Rack into bottles in 3 months. Let rest for at least one year
