I wish there were some awesome way of doing this. I love pomegranates, but they can be laborious!
I tend to make a circular cut at the top, around the spikey bit, to pull out the thick middle bit. That makes the whole thing easier to crack open then, then it's a case of picking out the seeds into a bowl (so I can eat them properly).
My mum says that if you cut it in half, then bang the back of the halves with a spoon, the seeds loosen and fall out. I gave it a go and it didn't quite work for me. Maybe I was doing it wrong!
