Fresh fruit-based desserts are the easier to whip up. Here are a couple of ideas:
Caramelized oranges - essentially fresh peeled oranges, sliced and a simple caramel poured over. (The recipe is on my hub about Oranges.)
Peel 4 - 5 grapefruits. Cut the segments from the membranes.
Put the grapefruit segments into an ovenproof bowl with sugar syrup (made by simmering 100g sugar in 100ml water until the sugar is dissolved. Cool before using.)
Whip 300ml cream with 3 egg yolks.
Pour the cream mixture over the grapefruit segments.
Sprinkle flaked almonds over. Dust with icing sugar.
Place under a grill or in a very hot oven until the topping browns.
Serve straight away.
