Hello Odie_driver. I am not sure the why? I'm diabetic and reducing sugar is important. but not as important as carbs. Looking at labels all the time I check carbs first then sugar and then what type of sugar. If sugar alcohol for instance my glucose will raise rapidly to high number but plummet causing a low.
I kinda' look at how many carbs and how many sugar grams High Carb & High sugar is bad. High carb low sugar is not as bad. The climb in glucose is not as bad.
Otherwise things high in sugar I have to be cautious of is fruits. Check out a Glycemic index to get an idea what fruits are high in sugar. I'm wandering but, a lot of people don't realize eating a piece of white bread is almost like eating a piece of candy relating to blood glucose.
