In this case, it doesn't make much difference. Simple sugars like sucrose from sugarcane, is not really that healthy, regardless. It is better to use alternatives like Honey or get your sweets from fruits, like fructose, for example. Don't get me wrong, table sugar is great for quick, cheap recipes and an easy way to sweeten your coffee or tea, etc., but I wouldn't pay the extra money for the unbleached granular sugar version. Now, comparing white rice to brown or white bread to wheat, is totally different!
