I am assuming that you mean: "What topping do you put on the hot dog?"  For me it's mustard. Sometimes, when i am feeling brave, chili and onions taste good.

If you mean what is in the hotdog itself, I try not to think about that.  I actually prefer bratwurst to the standard hotdogs; but, the same principle applies.  The only way to know for sure what is inside of a hotdog is to make them yourself.

The usual, a bit of ketchup and mustard.  If I'm taking a walk on the wild side as my husband would say, I add bacon and cheese.

I've never had bacon on my hotdog. Bacon goes well with franks-n-beans. I gotta try it.

Chicago Style !!! - It includes everything but the kitchen sink... The secret ingredient always being the celery salt topping a wedge of dill pickle, tomatoes, relish, onion, and mustard... Never ask for ketchup because that is what the tomatoes are for, all on a steamed sesame seed bun.. I like to add hot little sport peppers to mine as well... A salad on a bun hiding a hotdog... And it does require the hot dog to be made of pure beef.

One of two ways . . the classic mustard, onions and chili OR tomatoes and mayo.  I can pretty much eat anything with tomatoes and mayo!! = )

Well with me being from Texas I like my hot dog to first be made with Hebrew National weenies and then mayo (lots), chili, sauerkraut, onions, grated cheddar cheese, and Frito's on top of that..yum yum lol.

When I eat hotdogs they are more like "hot dawgs" (veggie) and I love mustard and ketchup...

How does the taste compare to the common hotdog or a beef one?

Depending on how you cook them they can get a little chewy, but otherwise they taste the same, especially if you use the same condiments you would normally.

Mine from the San Francisco financial district days is a polish dog with sauerkraut and brown mustard, onions and a pickle.  If it wasn't a hot dog day (most of the time) we'd spring for French Onion Soup with grilled cheese topping and sesame seed bread sticks on the side at Perry's - mmmm... bringing back memories smile

I don't like hot dogs with turkey or chicken fillings, they gross me out; however, I love hot dogs!  I enjoy hot dogs with mustard and ketchup; I enjoy hot dogs with chili and chopped onions; I also enjoy hot dogs with bush baked beans - I make frank and beans.  Additionally, I suffer from gout, so I eat hot dogs on rare occasions, but enjoy them very much nonetheless.

I keep it simple, ketchup, mustard and relish. Works great for my taste buds.
On occasion I'll throw some onions and mayo on it.

Try to stay away from meat, but I used to eat hotdogs all the time.

Currently though I have tried vegan hotdogs, not bad considering there is no meat.

But ketchup, mustard, mayo maybe, bacon wrapped hotdogs are awesome.

One of my co-workers brings in green veggie dogs whenever we barbecue. I haven't been brave enough to try one yet.

Mustard, ketchup and a zillion fried onions!! Yum - I've just decided what Im having for dinner!

For type - I'm kind of fond of chicken hotdogs.  All the taste and I feel a bit more righteous eating them.

I love vegetarian hotdogs with mustard and onions. I can't stand real hotdogs, who knows what's in there.

Here in Southwest Germany my favorite is Feuerwurst (fire-sausage). This is a very long hotdog that is strongly spiced with chilies (among other things). It's served with a topping of Greek tzatziki (yes, tzatziki) on a warm German white bread bun. Yum-Yum.

That sounds very different yet delicious! Makes me think you are going to pay for eating it the next day when it comes out of you, :-)

I am a big onion guy which is frequently overlooked on a hotdog. Mustard and relish are the staples and should alaays be in there. But the most important rule is NO KETCHUP!!!

My favorite one includes chili, onion and nacho cheese. But I have the tendency to grab whatever the fritch has to offer and create something that suits my current taste.

Whenever there's a barbecue, I always request a grilled veggie dog! Depending on the brand you buy, they taste pretty much the same as a regular beef dog. Grilling it is especially good, because it gives it that smokey flavor that real meat has. I always like to put mine on a poppy seed bun, along with relish, mustard, onions, and grilled onions.

Awwwww man... This one has me hungry already. My favorite cardiac dog is a jumbo beef hotdog with chili, cheese, and extra mustard.

Some of the best hotdogs I've had were stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, with ketchup and mustard. Those were awesome. If we're talking about favorite type of hotdog before it gets all gussied up then I would have to say Nathan dogs. They're pure beef and they are delicious.

I spent my summers in the Smoky Mountains as a kid, and there was only one way to eat a dog back then  --- with chili and cole slaw right on top. My all time favorite! Wash that down with a Nehi Peach soda and a moon pie for dessert. smile

I love eating hotdogs with lots of onion, salad, tomatoes, and plenty of ketchup. Sometime I just dip the hotdogs in hot sauce or eat them with extra chili green papaya salad dressing...hmmm...delicious!

Soy hotdogs.  They're made of soy.  LOL!  I've never had a carnivore complain.

Organic spicy mustard, ketchup, and pickle relish!

    Toasted wheat buns.

My current favorite hot dogs are Ball Park Turkey franks (40 calories, no fat). I love them with mustard and onions, and occasionally with a little saurkraut.
