There's a potluck at a work event next week, and I'm supposed to be bringing a vegetarian dish. I was thinking I might do a squash & potato soup that I've made stove top before - the problem is it used prepared butternut squash from Trader Joe's as it's base, and I'm worrying about whether that will burn in a crockpot? It's for a lunch event so planning to cook on high for about 3-4 hours.

Okay makes sense. That seems to be the general consensus! I was concerned b/c the soup base will just be reheating but other ingredietns (potatoes mainly) will be cooking.
Okay good to know! The butternut squash soup as base will be reheating but it will also have potatoes in it, that will be cooking, i was worried about them not being cooked enough.

Oooh vegetable beef soup sounds delicious! Unfortunately a couple of the people in our group are strict vegetarians so the beef broth wouldn't work :(
