Hi. Other than the traditional pumpkin pie in our family, I also like to add walnut halves to the top of the pie, lining the outer edge and one in the middle. It makes a pretty presentation and tastes great! Mincemeat pie is my favorite for Thanksgiving. I like to make a lattice-work top to pretty it up. If mincemeat is too sweet for some people, you can tone it down by adding diced apples to the mincemeat filling -- so half mincemeat and half apples. I also love to make at least one apple pie that I call the "Beatrice Potter Apple Pie". If you have ever read one of Beatrice Potter's books, you may see a picture of an apple pie sitting on a window sill to cool. It is loaded with apples piled high, it looks like a mountain sitting in a pie dish, and lovely fluted edges. This always makes quite an impression when sitting on the dessert table at Thanksgiving. It is so pretty, people are hesitant to cut into it.
