Why should the crusts of the bread be removed when making a bread and butter pudding?


Every recipe I have read tells me to remove the crusts, but I made a bread and butter pudding the other day and left the crusts on. The result was great and added a slightly different texture to the pudding. Plus I was always told that the crust of the bread has the most nutrition.
