This is not only deceptive, it is UNHEALTHY! There is no need to artificially sweeten milk or other foods in order to entice kids to drink or eat. This only leads to an enhanced taste for sweets, which in turn contributes to the obesity epidemic in this country.
In any case, kids (or adults) do NOT "need" milk anyway, least of all cows milk. We are the only species that drinks milk on a regular basis past infancy, and most certainly the ONLY species to raise purpose-bred herds of other species for the sole purpose of taking their milk....actually intended for their own young.
There are plenty of other sources of calcium to be had, including, but not limited to, oranges, almonds, baked beans and kale. The trick to getting kids to like these vegetables, is to introduce veggies FIRST when they are infants. That's what I did--when the pediatrician say "yellow fruits ok," I substituted a yellow vegetable..squash was the first. Then came peas, green beans, etc., and I NEVER had a problem with my kids hating or refusing veggies as they grew up.
With older kids, a household rule of, "You must at least TASTE a new food--no out-of-hand-based rejections based on sight or opinion allowed," should be in place...and in conjunction with that, you also must not force your kids to taste something you, yourself do not like or would not eat...
So, in short, if your kids don't like milk--don't sweat it--it's not important. Give them something else, like fortified soy milk or an orange and some almonds. Drink more water--as we all should.
