Can you freeze tinned tomatoes?


I did mean once opened, not still in the tin/can. Sometimes I make pasta sauce that uses one and a half tins. It's not nice to waste half a tin of tomatoes, so could they be frozen?

    Thank you. I always forget about checking dates once things are frozen. I tend to think they last forever.
