Trans fat is an unnatural product that some idiot created to make greater profits for food manufacturers.
The process involves bombarding cooking oils with hydrogen molecules and creating a substance that resembles the original product, except it is not recognized by the body and can't be metabolized like real oil products. Therefore the body stores it in body tissues as fat and creates a dangerous situation for people. It cannot be burned up by the body. It causes obesity of the worst kind, clogs the arteries, and contributes to heart problems, circulatory problems, and more.
Because this new substance is filled with air, it makes foods softer and as a filler it is cheaper than using real oil. So, the manufacturers make huge profits from its use with little or no regard to the safety of the consumers.
It is currently used in just about everything you eat. It is as dangerous as GMO food products that the government allows manufacturers to hide from the public.
The FDA is currently entertaining the possibility of banning the use of trans fats nationwide. They are also known as hydrogenated, or partially hydrogenated oils, or the new interesterated oils that are used to fool those who oppose the use of hydrogenated oils in our food supply.
Those who oppose this ban are the manufacturers and their allies (the current GOP) who state that is takes away the choices of the individual to eat poison foods if they so desire. An idiotic argument that the obstructionist always use to oppose anything that the other party tries to do to better the lives of the American people. Especially if that betterment takes away precious profits from Corporate America. They will fight for the right to eat poisoned foods if it helps corporate America make greater profits. And yet mandating reproduction rights of women is OK because women are too stupid to make the 'right' decisions for themselves so the government (the conservative GOP) makes those decisions for them in many states.
Consumers must take some responsibility for their own nutritional intake by demanding to know what is in the foods we eat and look for alternative foods that do not have these unhealthy ingredients in them.
There is tons of information on the www. about the dangers of trans fats, GMO foods & other additives that damage our immune systems as well if anyone cares enough about their health to investigate.
Knowledge is power and it is the last thing food manufacturers want the public to get.

This is not a current tax, or one that is planned, this is my own idea. (United States)I am just curious if you would favor a 5% national sales tax if the money from that tax went back to the people, in the form of bi-annual stimulus.1% of the tax would go to the people. That tax would be...
