Do you ever add ketchup to recipes to improve the flavor?

I do. Many times making recipes with tomatoes the results may lack a little something and have a raw or unsavory flavor on the tongue and a few squirts of ketchup can round out the flavor to make something really good; such as chili, spaghetti, etc. Even home made soup sometimes. I admit you must be careful to not overdo but ketchup have a sweetness and roundness of flavor that can really make a difference. I also never make a meatloaf without a ketchup topping. How about you; do you sometimes us ketchup in seasoning?

LOL! Yes! People wrinkle their noses at ketchup as an ingredient, but it's just another conglomerate ingredient. Ketchup contains tomato sauce and tomato paste along with spices and sugar. I use ketchup in my meatloaf topping, barbecue sauce, tripe stew, etc. Love ketchup!

I know, I use to wrinkle my nose at it too until I tried it. It does have lots of great seasonings!

When I'm making something that needs tomato sauce I, sometimes, add a little ketchup to it, not much. It's a good ingredient wink

Yes. But it is use for certain recipes and soups to add flavour and good, spicy taste. No need to use for tomato recipes as ketchup also contains mostly tomatoes.

I still add it if the tomato flavor of the dish  am making is just not quite right; usually always fixes it.

Wile making Tomato Paneer (Paneer = cottage cheese), i always add a little tomato ketchup to make a bit tangy. Improves the flavor and aroma.

I do add it to my meatloaf for sure, but have not thought about adding it to other recipes.  However, it makes sense to round-out the flavor.  I love ketchup!

Yeah I never liked meatloaf til I started putting ketchup on it. I never add it if stuff is ok as is but it can really fix up spegetti that needs a little sweetness or chili that needs a little tang. I just make sure I just add a little at a time.

Ketchup with potato chips(crushed) on meatloaf.
It is also the main ingredient in many a marinade I make.
