Would you decorate his, or her cake with seventy candles, with candles that say the number '70', or with just one candle?

We put the whole seventy on my Dad's cake some years ago, plus a decoration that was Charlie Chaplin and when the candles were lit he went up in smoke! So beware!

After a 'certain age,' we have always used just one candle for each decade. ;-)
My step-daughter jokingly commented that there were not any candles on my cake this year, because she had not applied in time for the fire permit. LOL
On my 37th birthday, they just put the number 37. Past a certain point, a bunch of candles become ridiculous. Why not just put candles that say 70?
You could use 7 candles. Or zero candles. I have never figured out the need for candles.
Are you going with a home made cake or a bakery decorated cake? If the latter, they can just write on the cake, "Happy 70th!".
Please don't use 70 candles. He probably can't blow them all out :-)
