At Home Soft Serve Ice Cream Makers

Updated on June 29, 2011

Soft Serve Ice Cream Fun

The 1980's were the age of self-serve, soft-serve ice cream, or at least from my vantage point, they were. Of course, Dairy Queen was king of soft serve, and had been for years. However, in the 80's, many buffets and buffet-style restaurants incorporated the self-serve ice cream as a huge attraction. A family dinner at Sizzler, for example, wasn't complete without at least one trip to the self-serve machine. Little children, with eyes bigger than their stomachs, would pile on ice cream, and toppings, which they could never seem to finish. By the mid 1980's, soft-serve self-serve machines were a part of convenience store offerings, and a cool summer treat was inexpensive, and oh, so easy to find at many a street corner store.

With your own soft-serve ice cream maker, you can re-live the fun of those days, in the comfort of your own home. The attraction may be the same, in restaurants, though Sizzler, and others have gone by the wayside. Nevertheless, chef Mom, or Dad, can be a hero to the whole household with one of these fun ice cream machines!

Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Maker

Use your own ice cream recipes, and your own mix-ins. Selected mix ins will be dispensed in the ice cream.

New Hamilton Beach Soft Ice Cream Maker Pink Two 12 Oz. Freezer Bowls Recipes Included

If you don't need a swirled ice cream, this is a great little ice cream maker, with smaller serving bowls. Bowls are frozen, then placed in the machine, along with ingredients, to create a small serving (6-12 oz) of ice cream.
