How To Make Cake Pops

With A Babycakes Cake Pop Maker!

There are a couple ways to make cake pops. I think the easiest way is with a Babycakes cake pop maker or one of the other cake pop making bakers. The picture here is the Babycakes CP-12 cake pop maker and it's the one I have. Compact and easy to use, it's a great cake pop maker to start with.

The other way to make cake pops is to bake a cake, crumble it up and mix in some icing, about half the container if you are using a canned frosting like Betty Crocker or Pillsbury. Roll your mixed batter into a ball and place the balls on a tray and refrigerate them for 15 or 20 minutes ... the refrigerator, not the freezer. Melt some melting chocolate in the microwave or on top of the stove (almost forgot you could do it that way!), or get the Babycakes chocolate dipper.

And Then You Dip Your Cake Pop

Dip your stick into the melted chocolate and insert your pop stick into your cake ball, about half way into the cake pop. When you are done with this step it's back to the frig while you gather all your sugars, chocolates and decorations...and your styrofoam board (to stick the pops in) or your cake pop stand/holder.

You get the idea, right? When you take your sticked cake pops out of the frig you can dip your cake pops and decorate them. When you dip, don't twist and shake the pop ... you don't want it to come off the stick. Tap the dipped pop gently on the side of the bowl to shake off extra chocolate for a smooth finish (that's only so the finish is nice and smooth not because there might be too much chocolate cause that's not possible!) and now you can decorate them. Decorate each cake pop as you dip it so the chocolate is melted and will act as a glue when it dries.

When you are done put the cake pops into a stand or a styrofoam block. This way they are standing up and can dry nicely.

Making cake pops with the Babycakes pop maker helps control the mess and for me, that means it's easier because the less clean up for me, the better! Now you know the two ways I know how to make cake pops. Choose the method you prefer, and since you are on the cake pop maker page I have to figure that you want a pop baker machine. I like the Babycakes one, but the one you get depends on which maker you like best.
