Bacon Wrapped Smokies With Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar Smokies With Bacon

Bacon wrapped smokies with brown sugar are a family favorite at my house. We make them as holiday and special occasion appetizers. They are very tasty and go over really well at any party.

If you have kids that like to help in the kitchen they can help make the bacon wrapped smokies with brown sugar. But beware they are a little messy to make especially when you have children to help. Consider making them near the sink to help with clean up.

Brown sugar smokies with bacon can be made anytime but we usually stick to special occasions, that makes them even better when we do have them.

The 3 Ingredients - Bacon Wrapped Smokies With Brown Sugar

Bacon wrapped smokies are easy to make and with 3 ingredients you can not go wrong.

You will need:

bacon

little smokies

brown sugar

There are no measurements it just depends on how many you want to make. A rule of thumb for this recipe is for each package of little smokies that you want to make you will need a lb package of bacon and approx a cup of brown sugar.

They can be a little messy to make be sure you do this in a location that is by the sink and easy to clean up.

Roll Little Smokies In Bacon - Brown Sugar Smokies

Cut your bacon is strips large enough to wrap around the smokies, about 2 inches or so. Make sure you have an overlap where the bacon comes together so the bacon will stay wrapped.

You can either carefully place the bacon wrapped smokies with the bacon overlap down so they do not come unwrapped or you can take a toothpick and put it through the bacon wrapped smoky to keep the bacon in place. Whatever is easier for you.

Now you roll your bacon wrapped smoky in brown sugar. If you did not use a toothpick then this part is easier. If you did use a toothpick to keep your bacon wrapped smoky together then this part will be a bit trickier for you.

If you used a toothpick just make a trench in your brown sugar the size of your smokey wrap and then push the brown sugar up and around it so that the brown sugar sticks to the wrap then take it out.

Put Brown Sugar Coated Bacon Smokies In A Baking Dish - Bacon Wrapped Smokies With Brown Sugar

Place your bacon wrapped smokies with brown sugar on a baking dish. This can be a cookie sheet or a cake pan, anything that can go in the oven that has sides. As the brown sugar melts on the wrap it will run on your pan so you may choose to cover it with foil to make clean up easier.

Bake Lil Smokies At 350 Degrees - Brown Sugar Smokies With Bacon

Bake your bacon wrapped smokies with brown sugar in the oven at 350 degrees until the bacon is done and the smokies are hot. It will take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes depending on how you stacked them on your baking dish. It will take longer if they are all touching and in the pan tight. If they are loose and not touching it will not take as long.

Serve, Eat, Enjoy

When you bacon wrapped smokies with brown sugar are done then they are ready to be served. They are best when served hot or warm.

You can place your brown sugar bacon smokies in a hot dish on low settings for a couple of hours but watch so they do not dry out. However in my experience they do not last long enough to dry out. We always run out of them long before that would happen!

Enjoy!
