Join Me for Some Banana Fun

Yes, of course you can eat a banana, but how boring.Wouldn't you rather add chocolate and melt it over a flame, or cut it into a fruit salad. Perhaps you are a fan of fresh baked banana muffins. Or maybe there is something else. Did you know you can use that banana to cure your hangover, your warts or that itchy mosquito bite.

What ever brand of banana fun you are looking for, we have it here. Even banana jokes, both in the from of silly riddles and a few funny videos. Personally, I love bananas! They are nutritionally packed, but that's just the bonus.

Overall, we found 25 great and G-Rated things to do with a banana. Have a read and see if you can add to our list.

#1 Create a Chocolate Banana Boat

Chocolate Banana Boat
Chocolate Banana Boat | Source

Chocolate Banana Boat Recipe

  1. Slice into an unpeeled banana, about 3/4 through the flesh
  2. Fill the opening with chocolate chips
  3. Wrap the banana in foil
  4. Place foil-wrapped banana on the BBQ (or in an open flame)
  5. When the foil looks slightly black, remove the banana from the heat
  6. Eat the banana with a spoon.

*options: add marshmallows, nuts, or whatever else you want

#2 Cure That Hangover

Try this hangover solution:

Drink a banana milkshake of:

Milk, Ice, Banana and honey

Why does this help:

Banana calms the stomach

The sugars from the banana and honey rebuild depleted blood sugar levels

Milk soothes and re-hydrates your system

#4 Tell A Silly Banana Joke

Q. How do you catch King Kong?

A. Hang upside down and make a noise like a banana.

#5 Feed Your Monkey a Banana - (This May Not Apply to Everyone)

#6 Do Banana Magic - Learn How to Slice the Banana Before its Peeled

The magic is all in the set up:

  1. Start with a ripe banana
  2. Secretly stick a straight pin through the banana until you reach the other side of the peel.
  3. Move the pin from side to side in the banana, keeping the top of the pin as still as possible so as not to make the hole bigger than necessary.
  4. Before each cut, turn the banana slightly before making the next "cut" (don't leave a row of holes going down a side when finished).
  5. Continue turning the banana and sticking in the pin and wiggling until you have the amount of slices you want inside the peel.
  6. Now it's time to show others. When you peel the banana in front of an audience, it will "magically" fall into pieces.

**Tip: Do the trick as soon as possible after preparing the banana or the holes will become brown and obvious.

#7 Slice Your Banana

A silly little item for the person who has everything, or the banana lover in the family. Makes slicing your fruit simple. Whether or not you need a banana slicer, this link is worth following just for the hilarious comments.

#8 Display your Bananas

#9 Decorate a Banana

Just for fun, or maybe for a table decoration, go ahead and decorate a banana. We did this one as a simple easy on the brain activity as my daughter was recovering from her concussion. Using peanut butter as the ink and as the glue, she added a pom pon nose and googly eyes. We don't yet know what to call him, any suggestions?

#10 Talk to a Banana (If Annoying Orange can do it, so can you!)

#11 Treat Itchy Mosquito Bites

Use the inside of the banana skin and rub it right on that itchy spot.

For many people this reduces swelling and irritation.

#12 Better Still - Eat Bananas to Repel Mosquitoes?

Is it an old wives tale, or does eating bananas actually repel mosquitoes. Many sources say yes, it does. I did a quick search on the web and found evidence to support both sides. If you ask Dr. Mercola, he will tell you not to eat that banana if it is mosquito season, while American ABC news will tell you that there is no evidence to support that theory. So, let's do our own quick experiment - without actually testing the theory, just tell us what you think:

#16 Make a Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich - We left it open face for the photo, so you could see what it is

Source

Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich

Built from the bottom up:

  1. One slice of whole wheat bread
  2. Cover with peanut butter
  3. Add slices of banana
  4. Drizzle on honey
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon
  6. Cover with a second slice of bread (not in photo)

#18 Dress Like a Banana

#19 Use Banana Peel to Clear Up that Wart - Painlessly

This doesn't work for everyone, but it worked for a friend who got rid of a stubborn wart on his toe for 18 years.

Here are the steps:

1. Wash the area and pat dry (remember warts are contagious, so don't share a towel).

2. Cover the entire wart with a patch of fresh banana skin, pulp side towards wart - yellow skin side out.

3. Tape the banana peel in place.

4. Change daily until the wart falls off.

#20 Reduce Stress with Your Banana

Or try it with this one, a banana specially made for stress reduction. I know what your thinking, it's not a real banana, but then it is much less messy when squeezed, and it's reusable. If you prefer, you can squeeze any banana to reduce stress, but the clean-up may bring your stress level back up.

#21Tell Another Silly Banana Joke

Q: Why do bananas wear suntan lotion?

A: Because they peel!

#22 Make a Refreshing Summer Fruit Salad

My Tips for a Fabulous Fruit Salad

Summer fruit salad is refreshing, colorful and simple to prepare. I don't follow a recipe, but rather go with what is in season. Here are my tips to make great fruit salad:

  • Include two servings of fruit per person.
  • Choose a variety of fruit types.
  • Choose a variety of fruit colors.
  • Chop each fruit into bite size pieces, removing all pits and seeds.
  • Carefully toss all fruit pieces to mix together in a bowl.
  • Serve immediately or dribble lemon juice on top to preserve color.

I love chocolate banana boats (never called them that before though), but another cool way to eat chocolate and banana is to dip a peeled banana in melted chocolate and then pop it into the freezer to freeze. Perfect on a cold day ...... well any day really :D

I have decided you just like to make me laugh. I have never considered talking to or dancing with a banana. Obviously, I need to re-think my interaction with a banana. Now, I don't mind eating them at all and I do love my peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
